This is a sequel to Unreachable , so you should read that first!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Kuroko never expected you to feel that way about him. He also never felt that way about you either. He never thought of you as anything more than a friend before, but he did know that he felt something for Momoi-san. He even thought that he may have a crush on Momoi, that is if he didn’t love her, so when you had confessed to him, he was speechless. He was planning to reject you, but nicely and he would let you down easy, as he was a gentleman. You didn’t even let him finish though, running out of Maji Burger, tears overflowing. Feeling guilt, Kuroko chased after you, but there was that busy street and that bus. The vehicle hit you hard, and all he could do was scream your name. He never wanted you to get hurt - not in this way.

He sat anxiously in the waiting room of the hospital for your diagnosis. You had been instantly admitted to the emergency room. When the doctor entered with a grim expression, Kuroko prepared himself for the worst. “I’m sorry sir, Kuroko-san was it?” The man asked. Nodding, Kuroko waited for the man to continue. “Your friend - she’s no longer in critical condition, but she’s now in a coma. We’re unsure of when she’ll wake up, that is if she ever does.”

Kuroko felt the world weighing down on his shoulders. You were in a coma. You might not wake up. He quietly stood up and exited the hospital and staggered towards his house.

What would he say to your family, to your friends? Your friends were practically all his friends and he had no idea how to tell them. He didn’t want to see that look of pain and anguish upon their faces, but he wanted to forget how you looked the most. He didn’t want to remember your tears, that incredibly vulnerable look you wore as you confessed and as everything collapsed around you. The worst thing was that look of complete unconditional love you still had for him in your (e/c) eyes when he fell to your side after you were hit. How could you still love him despite of all the pain he caused you? Why did you appear to worry more about his well being than yours when you were hit by a bus? Why was he hurting so much right now?

Nigou whimpered and pawed at his legs. Oh, he’d forgotten to feed his dog. He had a sudden flashback.

“Kuroko-kun! What are you doing?” You put your hands on your hips. “You don’t feed dogs vanilla milkshake!”

“Oh, sorry, (Name)-chan. I was not aware that Nigou could not eat vanilla” He states while patting Tetsuya #2.

“Honestly, Kuroko-kun. I know what - let’s go to the pet shop. We’ll buy some dog food and then Nigou will be nice and happy. Alright?” You giggled and ruffled Nigou’s fur. Then you offered your hand to him and smiled a closed eye smile. “Come on Kuroko-kun!”

Recoiling from the flashback, Kuroko fell to his knees. He placed his arm over his eyes and cried. Nigou started whimpering more as well, and Kuroko hugged the puppy close, as they both broke down.

The next day when he went to school with Kagami-kun, it was unnaturally quiet. You weren’t there to argue with Kagami or make small talk with him. It was incredibly unsettling and Kuroko didn’t like it. “Oi, Kuroko, you ok?” Kagami asks. “Kuroko?” The shadow was lost in his thoughts. “Kuroko!”

“O-oh. Sorry, I was not paying attention.” Kuroko replies.

At school he could not focus, not on his studies nor on basketball. That gloom created from your absence was affecting not only him but the whole team. Everything just seemed darker and lonelier. He wondered if you had felt this way too when he was with Momoi-san.

Days passed, and then weeks. You never woke up. Kuroko realized that he was spending a lot of time at the hospital, just waiting in your room and holding your hands in his. Your hands felt so cold and dead and he hated it. He never realized before how your presence and smile brightened the room, creating a lively atmosphere. The heart definitely grows fonder with absence.

Finally a month passed, but you still were in a coma. Kuroko just wanted to hear your voice again. He missed you so much, and not even being around Momoi-san filled that aching void in his heart. He desperately wanted you to open your beautiful (e/c) eyes. Beautiful? He had never thought of describing them like that before.

Three months passed, and Kuroko still spent most of his free time by your side. Once or twice the doctors locked him inside your room because they forgot he was there. He never minded though and fell asleep in the chair while grasping onto your hand. Kuroko missed your voice. He wanted you to call his name. Please, just one more time.

Six months, it had been six months. You were currently in a state of dreaming.

Wind blew your (h/l) (h/c) hair around, and you were standing in a beautiful meadow. Everything was so lovely and peaceful, but you felt as if you were forgetting something - something important. Suddenly an image of a blue haired boy appeared across the field of flowers. Your heart wavered. You couldn’t see the boy’s face, but he was so familiar, and for some reason you wanted to reach out to him. His name, what was his name? He started walking away, further away from you. You didn’t want that for some reason. You wanted to be with him, you wanted that so badly. His name, you wanted to remember his name. “K-Kuro… K-Kuroko-kun!” Turning around, the boy opened his arms as you ran to him. “Kuroko-kun!”

You shot up from the bed. Kuroko, who fell asleep at your side, awoke to your sudden movement. “(N-name)-chan…” He spoke in disbelief.

You didn’t exactly know what to say. What would you say after being asleep for six months? “Um, h-hello. It’s nice to see you again.” You say.

“(N-name)-chan, you’re awake. You’re really awake.” He says, shaking slightly. Did you really cause him this much pain? “I was starting to think you wouldn’t ever wake.”

“Really? I’m slightly offended. It’ll take more than that to get rid of me, Kuroko-kun.” You reply jokingly. You squeaked as he suddenly hugged you close to his body. “E-eh? W-what are you-”

“Again.”

“U-um, I’m sorry, I don’t understand Kuroko-kun. A-ah!” You stutter as he began to plant kisses all over your face.

“Say my name again. Please.” He hugs you even tighter than before, kissing your forehead, your eyes, your nose.

“K-Kuroko-kun!” You cry. He shakily sighs in relief and kisses your cheeks, then the corner of your mouth. “Kuroko-kun…”

“I’m sorry (Name)-chan, for not realizing it sooner. I love you too.” With that, he tenderly kisses your lips and holds you as if he ever let go, you’d disappear again.

He would never let you go.
So yeah, fluffy ending, because it's almost impossible to write full-on angst for Kuroko without guilt headbutting you in the stomach. ....also because I'm a secret romantic, don't tell anyone, shhhhhh.... Kise: I knew it, tsundere-cchi! xD Me: You're not even in this fic! Get out! *kicks him out* Lol I hope Kuroko wasn't too OOC, but I personally could see him acting this way. I mean honestly, you'd been in a coma for six months!

Me: I've got a special disclaimer for you all to celebrate the ending of my first fic! Go Kuroko-kun!
Kuroko: Nina does not own KnB or you. ...
Me: Go on...
Kuroko: ...Um, however you may belong to me if you'd like.
Me: Yay! *streamers and confetti*
Kuroko: Nina-chan, I do not believe it is right to be promoting the ownership of humans...
Me: They don't mind.

So...
They kept hugging, even when reader was changing?
You did say he would never let go.

How will he play?
